Rich gas deposit discovered near village of Deventsi

A rich gas deposit was discovered during drillings near the village of Deventsi, near the town of Cherven Bryag in northern Bulgaria. The news was spread yesterday by Edward Gendelman, chairman of the concessionaire, Direct Petroleum, based in Denver, USA.
Preliminary research shows that six billion cubic meters of natural gas in the deposit can help meet the country`s needs for this fuel during the next three years. The deposit lies at 4,100 m under the ground and it can provide high-quality natural gas.
To Gendelman`s words, the deposit will help keep Bulgaria`s natural gas balance.
By the middle of 2010 the exploitation of the deposit is expected to begin and its two drills will be included in Bulgaria`s gas transit system. Direct Petroleum has so far invested about 50 million U.S. dollars in the drillings.
