Election for mayor of village of Brest, Gulyanci Municipality

Voter turnout in the village of Brest, Gulyanci Municipality reached 60% by 17.00, chairwoman of the election commission in Gulyanci said. 2 147 people are eligible to vote in the village.
6 candidates are running for mayor of the northern village of Brest. Candidates are supported by six political parties - Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (CEDB), VMRO, National Movement for Stability and Progress (NMSP), Ataka party and United Agrarians party.
The six candidates are: Mariana Nestorova (United Agrarians), Tsvetan Gashev (Ataka), Tsetso Lukanov (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria), Stefan Betov (National Movement for Stability and Progress), Sergey Ichev (VMRO-Bulgarian National Movement), and Stefan Kopchev (Bulgarian Socialist Party).
The Election Day started at 6.00am and will continue until 7.00pm. The village’s previous mayor Dimitar Bozhinov died on January 6th 2009.
