Bulgaria`s Chief Prosecutor Boris Velchev has given his permission to officially extend the deadline for the investigation of the fatal fire in the Sofia- Kardam train by four months. The news was announced Friday by the Prosecutor`s Office in the city of Pleven.

The fire caused the deaths of nine people in February of 2008.

The new extension was requested by the monitoring prosecutor of the case, Valery Mirchev due to the additional expertise reports that have been ordered.

The prosecutor refused to accept the results from the first complex expertise because he had additional questions including a more thorough analysis of details involving the electrical heating and lighting system of the train, the structure of the metal where the fire broke and the fire`s temperature.

It is expected that the experts are going to present their conclusions before the prosecutor by the end of the next week.
