The Zurich Airport has expressed investment interest in Bulgarian coastal Balchik Airport. Representatives of the Swiss company visited the town of Balchik and held talks with its mayor Nikolai Angelov.

The Balchik airport has a 2.5-kilometre runway that could be extended by another kilometre to the north. The decision to turn the disused military airfield in Balchik into a civilian airport was taken by Bulgaria’s government in 2011.
