Less than 30 hotels throughout the whole Nessebar municipality paid tourist taxes

There are less than 30 hotels throughout the whole Nessebar municipality, including Sunny Beach resort, according to data from the municipality for paid tourist taxes. At the moment their amount is a million and 200 thousand leva.
Last year the municipal treasury collected less than 3 million leva from hotels owners, said the head of Sunny Beach JSC Zlatko Dimitrov. Since last year`s change in the law now tourist tax is collected based on nights spent.
Owners of hotels must pay an amount of at least 30% of occupation of declared beds. According to calculations it appears that the entire municipality has no more than 20,000 beds, ie 20 hotels with 1,000 beds or 30-40 with less. At the same time, official statistics reported over 300 000 beds only in Sunny Beach without counting hotels in Nessebar, Ravda, Obzor, Sveti Vlas. The discrepancy between official statistics and tax paid is due to only one reason - false income-tax forms and evaded taxes.
