Municipality of Madjarovo is part of Haskovo district and lies in the valley of the Arda river. The region attracts many tourists with its beautiful and well-preserved nature, as well as with its unique rock formations and many archeological and historical monuments. One of these monuments is the Thracian sancutary (dated VII - VI century BC), discovered near the village of Dolni Glavanak (about 12 km away from Madjarovo, in the direction of Haskovo).
The sanctuary represents a megalithic facility - cromlech, and is the only monument of this kind on the territory of Bulgaria. It was built in the shape of a stone summit, fenced off from all sides and isolated from external influences. It was most probably used as a place for ancient religious rituals.
