The Orphic mysteries celebrations in Trigrad will be held for the second year in a row. They are related to the reproduction of the ancient pagan celebrations, practiced by Thracian tribes, which have to do with the myth of Orpheus and his descend to the underground world.
Various folk ensembles, orchestras, famous singers of Rodopi songs, as well as mummer casts from the villages of Shiroka Laka, Otets Paisievo, and Sushitza, will take part in the celebrations.
The Orphic mysteries coincide with Trigrad`s public holiday (August 7). On this day, different ancient rituals will be reproduced - "catching live fire", "offering", and "introducing participants to the secret world of mysteries". Later on that day, all participants will make their way to the Devil`s Throat cave.
Before going home on Sunday, guests of the celebrations will go down to the "bottom land", after which there will be an offering requiem for all souls, as well as a table after Bacchanalia.
