The emblematic building of the former Sofia movie theater Iztok (East) has been acquired by the German supermarket chain Billa. The building, on the Sofia main thoroughfare Tsarigradsko Shosse, across from the Pliska hotel, which has been closed for years and had deteriorated badly, has been purchased for EUR 1.43 M.
The movie theater`s former owners - the Equest-Pelikan Fund report the money has been already wired.
Equest announced their intentions to sell the building 2 years ago. They now say they have a preliminary contract to sell the ex movie theater Evropa Palace in downtown Sofia and will finalize the deal by mid-September, but the buyer remains unknown.
