The rock phenomenon Momata (The Lass) is situated about 1 km from the village of Shiroka Laka, in the western part of the beautiful Rhodopi mountain.
It was formed as a result of the erosion and the activity of the earth elements.
Its queer shape, resembling a slender female figure holding a distaff in her hand, made the local people give it this name (The Lass).
There is an interesting legend about it, telling the story of a beautiful lass called Kanya, who turned into stone determined to save her faith and dignity from the ravishing Ottomans.
