9 kg of heroin seized at Lesovo border checkpoint

Nine kilograms and 20 grams of heroin were seized at Lesovo border checkpoint on Sunday evening, District Police Directorate - Yambol announced.
The drugs were found in the petrol tank of a Mercedes car with a Romanian license plate driven by a 27-year-old Romanian citizen. The motorist was traveling from Turkey to Romania. The Romanian citizen was traveling in the car alone.
The heroin was distributed in 12 Pepsi bottles stashed in the petrol tank together with the fuel.
The driver was detained. Pre-trial proceedings have been opened.
