Archaeological research will be taking place this year near the Rhodope Mountain village of Gela , Bulgarian news agency reported. A basilica and a Thracian fortress will be uncovered near the village that is said to be the birth place of Orpheus.

The basilica is part of a cult complex dating back to the fifth and fourth centuries. It has been previously researched. The Thracian fortress acted as a shelter during military maneuvers and functioned from the 11th to the first centuries BC. If archeologists make intriguing findings, the region will be turned into a tourism...
