The official opening of summer 2009 took place on May 11 in the coastal town of Nesebar. St. Stefan church was reopened as a part of the ceremony. This is one of the oldest churches in Europe and was closed for renovation of its wall paintings. Wall paintings in St. Stefan are 400 to 500 year old. The church was renovated in its original looks. A mass was held to guarantee a successful summer season.
