7-star Golf and Spa complex is under construction between Balchik and Kavarna

The first in Bulgaria seven-star Thracian Cliffs Golf Marina and Spa hotel complex with a market price seen north of EUR 550 million is under construction between Balchik and Kavarna on the northern Black Sea coast.
George Tsvetanski is main investor in the scheme, part of which will be managed by global leader on the ultra-luxury segment, General Hotel Management (GHM). The company will enter Bulgaria through its Chedi brand. Chedi will manage a 60-apartment hotel, 30 villas and delux homes in nine apartment buildings in a complex said to be the first of its kind in southeast Europe.
GHM will provide technical assistance before and during the construction works and will take over the hotel management after the ribbon-cutting, said the complex manager, Josef Halbherr.
The complex was designed by GHM partner Denniston who made the most of its unique location. The complex in which buildings occupy only 13% of the plot is a mix of contemporary Asian traditions inspired by ancient Thracian cultural heritage. The complex features roomy housing space, terraces with pools and ponds and parks on a 0.2-hectare area attached to each villa.
Thracian Cliffs will comprise an 18-hole golf course, a yacht club and a marina with over 90 berths, as well as residential buildings, villas and two hotels.
The project will be implemented in three stages. The first phase will deliver the golf course this autumn. Two other golf projects, Black Sea Rama and Lighthouse, are underway in Balchik area.
Set up in 1992 by Indonesian hotelier Adrian Zecha, GHM is part of Singapore-based Aman Group which includes seven-star Aman resorts hotel chain operating in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. In Europe, the company manages several hotels in Milan, Italy.
