Bansko banned the usage of plastic bags and paper cups. The decision was taken during a summit of the municipal council. New regulations aim to increase environmental awareness and to make more people consider environmentally-friendly practices. Plastic bags have to be replaced with paper ones. The new regulations will be enforced on January 1 2010.

During the session, municipality representatives approved the selection of a plot for the construction of a purifying station. Furthermore, owners of polluted plots will be fined. The fines will reach up to 5000 leva.
