A 13 year old boy incidentally hung itself while playing a game imitating popular reality TV formats like `Fear Factor` and `Fort Boyard` that currently run on Bulgarian televisions, DeltaNews reports Tuesday.
The child from the town of Kozloduy and a couple of its friends were inspired by the TV shows to create a game where they could test their physique with challenges that get harder and harder after each level.
Allegedly the kid tried to climb a swing using a bike chain that was also tied to its neck. Apparently the boy`s hands couldn`t hold him so he let go and practically hung itself.
A woman incidentally became a witness to the tragedy and, although panicked, called the police and paramedics. They came only to state the boy`s death.
According to Police psychologist Boyko Ganchevski, younglings sometimes find it hard to distinguish fiction from reality so they start imitating things they saw on TV without realising the likely fatal outcome.
"Three years ago a kid fell off a roof top. Later it turned out it had just read a Harry Potter book and it thought it could fly", Ganchevski told.
