Karanovo settlement mound and the Nova Zagora history museum were included among the 100 national tourist sites, Darik Radio reported. The mound took the place of Bogdan peak and is now number 76 of the 100 must-sees in Bulgaria.
It is rather difficult to determine the landmarks and sites that deserve to be included in the list, representative of Bulgarian Tourism Union Dimitur Mouhtiyski said.
This recognition is expected to aid the development of tourism in the region, Nova Zagora’s municipal press center said.
Karanovo settlement mound is the biggest one discovered in Europe. It is situated near the village of Karanovo. Seven distinct archaeological layers make up the mound, giving information about the evolution of civilizations.
