Balkan AD, the Lovech-based manufacturer of aggregates and transmissions for powered trucks, said it has cut working hours in the face of waning demand. The company also plans to lay off 10% of its workforce from main and related operations. Balkan had a staff of 206 people at the end of 2008, but the number has been dwindling in the recent years. The firm’s sales shrank over 30% to BGN 6.4 million in 2008.
