Citizens of Karlovo take part in the US presidential vote

The citizens of Karlovo, the home town of Bulgaria`s national hero Vasil Levski, have decided to take part in the presidential vote in the USA. Yesterday, the locals voted for John McCain or Barack Obama, casting ballots into a special box placed in front of the `Karlovo` restaurant. The vote is experimental and the people can vote only for the two major candidates. The initiative has been launched by the US Embassy in Sofia.
A ballot box was also installed in the town of Banya. Branimir Botev, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Banya Winery, was the leader of Obama`s supporters and Toshko Stoev, Chairman of the Karlovo Municipal Council, was for McCain. Four hundred ballots in different colors were printed in the two towns, but only twenty were cast into the ballot boxes in Karlovo, yesterday. The votes will be counted today at the US Embassy in Sofia.
