Sliven municipality is preparing contracts by ISPA projects

On 15 Oct. the minister of the environment Dzhevdet Chakarov and Sliven mayor Yordan Lechkov signed an agreement for the project for sewerage network construction in Sliven downtown with funding from the pre-accession programme. The local community will assume the responsibilities for the assignment and execution of the project and thus combining the efforts to build a water supply system by Environment operational programme.
The water project by ISPA in Sliven is from financial memorandum 2005 in the same group for technical assistance with Vratsa and Gabrovo that will also sign similar agreements soon. Same size and nature water project is under preparation in Kyustendil too. The project in Sliven amounts to EUR 7.9m for the sewerage works, for water supply system - EUR 8.5m, for the waste-water treatment plant - EUR 10m. If works keep to the schedule the local community will invest over EUR 26m in water projects within five years in Sliven.
