Russian Officers Visit NATO Base in Novo Selo

Officers from the Russian army visited the military base in Novo Selo where the joint Bulgarian-American military exercise Bulgarian Panther 2008 is on.
The Russians arrived on October 7 together with military attaches and counselors from China, Croatia, Germany, France, Italy, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and Vietnam at the invitation of the Bulgarian- American command of the joint forces "East".
The guests observed the manoeuvres and the firing practice as well as the unique training simulators for the infantry. The exercise will finish of October 15. Bulgaria`s President Georgi Parvanov, PM Sergey Stanishev, Gen. Zlatan Stoykov - Chief of the General Staff of the Bulgarian Army and a high-ranking American general are expected to attend the closing of the exercise.
