The construction and reconstruction of Balchik sewerage and water supply network is starting, the deadline for completion is Dec. 2010, the start was on 17 June. The project is financed by the programme ISPA managed by the Ministry of the environment and waters.

The corner stone was laid by the minister of the environment Dzhevdet Chakarov. The ceremony was held at the crossing of the two main streets in town - Dunav str. and Serdika str. in Balik neighbourhood.

The main subjects of components 1 and 2 of financial memorandum 2003 are the rehabilitation of Balchik water supply network and rehabilitation and extension of the sewerage in town.

The project was approved in 2003, 75% of the total investment is a financial aid, 25% is state co-financing. The whole project amounts to EUR 22m, including construction of a waste-water treatment plant started in Sept. 2007, the planned investment for it are EUR 5.26m.
