US Army Town to be Built near Novo Selo

A military town for 500 US servicemen and their families will be built near the Novo Selo base. It will stretch over 5 ha and will boast all necessary amenities - medical centers, gyms, libraries, convenience stores and daycare centers for children.
Five hundred soldiers and officers will settle in Bulgaria permanently, the other 2500 will live in the bases of Bezmer, Novo Selo, Graf Ignatievo and Aitos on rotation principle. It means that up to 5000 troops may be using the bases when need arises.
The construction will start in spring next year; the base has to be completed by 2011. The first US servicemen arrive in Bulgaria this August. Over 1200 soldiers will take part in a three-month exercise "The Bulgarian Panther."
