The cupola of a tank, produced by Maybach, was stolen from the place the machine had been dug in at the Bulgarian - Turkish border, police reported Tuesday.
The tank was placed between the villages of Razdel and Golyam Dervent for more than 50 years now.
The time when the theft has been committed is not established yet but it is sure it occurred within the period September - December 2007 as authorities conducted the last inventory on the spot in August.
The case is still under investigation.
About a month ago, Bulgaria`s police arrested two German nationals and a Bulgarian army major over stealing another Maybach vintage tank, owned by the Ministry of Defence.
Ten days later, Major Aleksey Petrov was released on BGN 5,000 bail as the judges decided he is unlikely to commit another crime.
