Anglo-American School of Sofia Turns 40

The Anglo-American School of Sofia celebrated its 40th Anniversary over the weekend. Over the years it has provided education for children from more than 60 nationalities.
At the official ceremony the School Director Eric Larson, and the Board Chair Alex Karagiannis awarded six academically talented Bulgarian students with full three and four year scholarships valued at 72, 000 Euro per student.
The school also dedicated the BGN 14,000 raised from the different activities and games at the fair to its Community Service fund.
The official guests of the event included the Minister of EU Affairs Gergana Grancharovam, the Mayor of the Sofia quarter Pancharevo Stanimir Peev, the Director of Sofia Educational Inspectorate Vanya Kastreva and the Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce Valentin Georgiev.
Minister Grancharova emphasized the role of AAS in supporting the good will of the EU and the US in Bulgaria.
Karagiannis in turn noted that in 1968 AAS started with only 24 students from seven countries and congratulated every member of the school for its achievements.
