The case against World Skate Champion Maxim Staviski, charged with involuntary manslaughter and aggravated bodily harm, is tried for hearing on Monday, April 7. The appeal against Staviski`s sentence was filled by the parents of comatose Manuela Gorsova and the relatives of Petar Petrov, who died in the car crash caused by the defender.

In the beginning of February, the skating champ was given a 2,5-year suspended sentence and five years to be served in probation over drunk driving and causing the heavy crash.

The civil claim filed on behalf of Gorsova and set at BGN 2 M was rejected and the court decided the girl would get BGN 80,000 compensation. The parents of the tragically died young Peter Petrov will get 90,000 BGN (45,000 EUR) blood money, instead of asked BGN 500,000.

The deadly crash occurred on August 5 last year after Staviski veered into the opposite lane on a bridge over the Ropotamo River near the coastal city of Burgas and hit headlong into another car with four people riding in it.
