Society: Workers from a tailoring company in Cherven bryag on strike

73 workers from the tailoring company Textilco SPLTD in Cherven bryag started an indefinite effective strike. Their protest is due to unpaid salaries for December 2008. For November 2008 the seamstresses have received only BGN 100 , while they have received their October salaries just a few days ago. The company is owned by a Greek firm. A similar conflict, with a 3-month delay of salaries, took place there 3 years ago. The municipal structure of KNSB in Pleven has signaled the Labor Inspection.

A rich gas deposit was discovered during drillings near the village of Deventsi , near the town of Cherven Bryag in northern Bulgaria. The news was spread yesterday by Edward Gendelman, chairman of the concessionaire, Direct Petroleum, based in Denver, USA. Preliminary research shows that six billion cubic meters of natural gas in the deposit can help meet the country`s needs for this fuel during the next three years. The ruling of the final instance overturns the decision of the Pleven district court to cancel the bankruptcy procedure. The first creditors’ meeting will take place on February 12. Unknown people sent a bomb threat to a train, Bulgarian State Railway informs. At 12.13 p.m. during the stop at the station in the town of Cherven Bryag the chief of the Sofia-Varna express (No 2611) found a note in the first carriage stating there was a bomb in the train. Train’s staff evacuated all the passengers. According to initial information, there are about 120 people traveling on the train. Transport Police is alarmed over the incident. Authorities in charge are to start a check-up.
