Bulgarian transport firm Egged Ruse slashed salaries by 6% but vowed to keep its headcount intact. Silistra - based company Bulmod opened a honey processing and packaging facility in the northeastern Bulgarian town. The project was funded on a EUR 98,500 grant by the Phare pre-accession programme of the European Union. The main holding not is located in Silistra area , with 1,000 beehives to be placed in the environmental zones around Alfatar and Dulovo . Accidents: Married couple died in a car accident near town of Alfatar

A married couple died, one man was injured in a car accident on the road between the towns of Silistra and Dulovo, in the area of the town of Alfatar (North-eastern Bulgaria). The accident occurred at about 6.50 a.m., District Police Directorate – Silistra reported. A car lost control over the slippery road, left the line and overturned several times. A married couple died on spot – a man aged 33 and his wife, aged 28. A 22-year-old man was driving with them in the car. He is severely injured and hospitalized.

From September 1, the dialling codes of all 118 towns and villages in Silistra Region were changed. The change affects the Region`s seven municipalities: Silistra , Doulovo , Toutrakan , Glavnitsa , Sitovo , Kaynardzha and Alfatar and the mayoralties with them. The only exception is the region`s main town, Silistra , which keeps its present dialling code (086).
