American company SunEdison built the biggest operational solar park in Bulgaria near the town of Parvomay
. This is the biggest solar park on the Balkans and over BGN 350 million were invested in it. It is situated in the village of Karadzhalovo
in the municipality of Parvomay
and is operational as of March. Its peak capacity is 60.4 MW, and has more than 214,000 solar modules.
The American company SunEdison invested in the solar park along with a subsidiary of the MEMC Electronic Materials. The project cost EUR 181.4 million, of which EUR 155 million were lent by the International Financial Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank, UniCredit Group, and Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). UniCredit Bulbank Bulgaria
also funded the project. The IFC ensured EUR 46.1 million, UniCredit - EUR 41.1 million, and OPIC - EUR 50 million. UniCredit Bulbank granted an EUR 30 million loan.
