Bulgaria ranks 5-th in the world for its oldest population

Genoveva Mihova, director of the Institute for Demography Studies with the ban Academy of Sciences announced that Bulgaria ranks fifth in the world for its oldest population.

There is a tendency for people aged between 0 and 14 years to decrease while the relative portion of the group of over 60 - to increase. People over 60 are 24% of the population in Bulgaria, which shows that every 4th Bulgarian belongs to that age-group.

Young people who make up today`s working force are almost twice less than those who retire and that causes a shortage of working hand.
