Bulgaria Chair of National Milk Producers Association Has Been Arrested

The Police have arrested the Chair of the National Association of Milk Producers in Bulgaria, Adrian Tsakonski along with three other farmers on Wednesday citing as reason the failure to stop the public butchering of calves.

The order to discontinue such butchering had come earlier from the Regional Veterinary Services in the city of Vratsa.

A protest of the milk producers against the government`s policy in the sector and unpaid subsidies was scheduled to take place Wednesday in Northwestern Bulgaria to support the milk producers from the Kardzhali region, who have been demonstrating for days now.

Farmers from the region of Vratsa have said they were going to butcher and grill four calves because in desperate situations Bulgarians usually were starting to eat and drink...
