| The 112 emergency hotline will be launched in Bulgaria at long last. As of July 3, the line will receive emergency calls from the citizens in 10 districts. At the same time two call centers will start functioning in the capital and in Russe, which will cover Greater Sofia, Pernik, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Silistra and Razgrad. Till the end of the year the free line should be available for the rest of the towns in Bulgaria, Minister of State Policy for Disasters and Accidents informed yesterday. Meanwhile in the towns of Shumen and Sliven a temporary information center already operates. It receives calls about emergency situations and dispatches them to Civil Protection agency. A 20-year-old man drowned in Iskar artificial lake in Bulgaria on Sunday afternoon. The accident occurred while a group of youngsters were swimming in the lake. After a short time all but one managed to reach the shore. The group signaled Civil Defense services over the disappearance of their friend. Few hours later the rescue teams pulled the dead body out of the water. The reasons for the man`s death have not been discovered yet. |

| A new winter complex will be officially opened in the Southern Bulgarian town of Samokov on January 12 2008.The complex, called Boricho, has been functioning since January 4, a Samokov municipality media statement said. Boricho had an opened chairlift and a skirun of one km, investor.bg said. The skirun was made on the former track to the ridge and was not very difficult. Two other ski tracks, a teahouse and a panoramarestaurant are to be built in the next phase of the project. |

| Briko 2007, a joint venture between LM Impex and the Samokov municipality, said it will inaugurate a new 1 km ski run and two-seat ski lift in local mountain resort Borovets by the end of this week. The 0.3 mln lev facility is part of a 6 mln lev project for a new skiing complex in the resort. The project envisages the construction of an installation for artificial snow, a further 2 ski runs, hotel and restaurant. The Samokov municipality has contributed 10 ha to the development. |
