The customs officers at the Kalotina Checkpoint on Bulgaria`s border with Serbia detained 10,568 kg of heroin Sunday night. The heroin was found in a truck destined for Serbia, and driven by a Croatian citizen. It was in a total of twenty packages hidden in a backpack in the back of the truck. Two of the packages somehow fell off from the backpack on the asphalt under the vehicle, and were thus spotted by one of the customs officials.

Customs inspectors at Kalotina border checkpoint caught a big stash of undeclared EUR in the amount of 800,000 Tuesday. On July 15th, around 7:30 pm a Mercedes automobile had arrived at Kalotina, driven by a German citizen traveling from Turkey to Germany. The inspectors have conducted a thorough checkup of the car and found a total of EUR 800,320 underneath the car seats and carpets as well is in the driver`s jacket. All money has been undeclared.

A 20-year-old man drowned in Iskar artificial lake in Bulgaria on Sunday afternoon. The accident occurred while a group of youngsters were swimming in the lake. After a short time all but one managed to reach the shore. The group signaled Civil Defense services over the disappearance of their friend. Few hours later the rescue teams pulled the dead body out of the water. The reasons for the man`s death have not been discovered yet.
