Bulgarian municipalities have intensified their interest in the utilisation of mineral springs, which the Bulgarian state grants them under gratuitous concession. The Ministry of Environment and Water published a list of nearly 70 mineral springs, which can be managed by the Bulgarian municipalities for a period of 25 years. The share of golf tourism is only 0.1% p.a. of the total supply in Bulgaria despite the big potential for development. Construction company Salu-D said it is building a spa complex in the area of the mineral springs near the village of Pchelin, in the Sofia region. The 4,000 sq m complex wil feature a hotel component and two apartment buildings. The investor will first complete the spa hotel before starting work on the residential buildings which will have 16 apartments in total. The location is close to the towns of Kostenets and Dolna Bania and ski resort Borovets.

Golf Club Ibar, an investor in the Golf Club Ibar complex in the Bulgarian town of Dolna Banya , has received a first class investment certificate for its second golf complex in the country. Or, better said, about Pchelinski Bani . For a start, it is one hour away from Sofia , driving on the (very good) motorway to Plovdiv . Then, the view to Rila Mountain and Belmeken peak is absolutely stunning. With Borovets only 30km away, the village climbs into nearby hills and a stream flows through it. The climate is unexpectedly milder than in Sofia . Maybe this is what attracts storks to the place – actually, the first stork I saw in Bulgaria was in Pchelinski Bani .
