The Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) has revoked the order of the Mayor of Sofia Boyko Borisov, with which the Austrian company Saubermacher was declared a winner in the competition for the cleaning of 5 Sofia quarters. Politics: Sofia District Mayor Fined for Racist Statements against Roma

The Mayor of the Sofia Quarter Ovcha Kupel Plamen Yordanov was fined Friday by the Committee for Protection against Discrimination for making what was termed as racist remarks against representatives of the Roma minority. Yordanov will have to pay BGN 1000 because in 2006 he stated: "The cows will disturb (the residents) less than a Roma settlement", and "One Roma settlement close to a residential quarter is ten times more dangerous than a dumping ground". The Ovcha Kupel District Mayor is also sentenced to apologize publicly to the Roma on the radio and in one daily newspaper at his own expense.
