Bulgaria`s capital city of Sofia will launch three 24 hour bus lines starting May 1st, the Center for City Mobility chief, Nikolay Kostov, announced Wednesday. The Roma shantytown located close to block of flats No. 55 in Sofia`s Studentski Grad Quarter is to be demolished. This was decided on Monday during the weekly meeting of the Demographic Policy Committee of the Sofia City Council. The some ninety Roma residing in the ghetto are going to be transported to their places of origin the same way the Roma living illegally in the Mladost Quarter were sent to their home towns last week, the Committee decided. The makeshift ghettos around Sofia appear because the Roma squatters are allegedly unable to make living at their provincial hometowns.

About 50 people gathered in the residential area of Mladost in Sofia to protest against the construction on green areas and the over-construction on the ground between apartment blocks, a reporter of FOCUS News Agency informed.
