St. Nicholas the Wondermaker monastery is located near the village of Kladnitsa , Pernik region , in the southern part of the Vitosha mountain . The present monastery was built in 1841, as it formerly rose slightly apart from its current location. The legend tells that in the times of the Ottoman yoke, rebels of the Kladnitsa village hid from their persecutors in the monastery. After the rebels were betrayed, the Turks caught them and very few of them survived, and the monastery was burned down....
