A 53-year-old man died of swine flu in Sofia. This brings the death toll in the country up to six. The number of infected people in the capital continues to increase and 50 schools have already been closed. An epidemic was declared in Sofia-district, Blagoevgrad, Dupnitsa and Kustendil. With them the districts declared to have a flu epidemic rose to 19. Laboratory tested and confirmed to have swine flu people in the country are already 450.

For first time Sofia wins in the poll "Best city to live in", organized by Darik Radio, DarikNews.bg and the Bulgarian daily "24 Chasa". In the last two editions the big winner was city of Varna . The first long-anticipated tenders for construction of Bulgaria`s Trakiya motorway will be held in the autumn, said construction minister Rosen Plevneliev. The 115-kilometre road linking the eastern towns of Stara Zagora and Karnobat should be completed in the autumn of 2012, he said. The drug makers in the Balkanpharma group, owned by Iceland’s Actavis, have worsened their financial performance in 2008, showed the reports filed with the commercial registrar. Despite the crisis and the rumours for negative development, Actavis Bulgaria pharmaceutical manufacturer is stable and holds its leading position in the country, vice-president Milan Todorovic said. At present, the group is the 5-th largest generic pharmaceutical firm with 830 products. Investments for renovation of the plant in Dupnitsa were EUR 60 million and it is the biggest one in South-east Europe for production of tablets.
