The number of tourist visits in the town of Sandanski decrease 20 percent, Focus news agency reported. Traditionally, fewer tourists visit the region during the summer but the decrease was greater than usual this year because of the financial crisis. Hotels in Sandanski have come up with various packages in order to attract tourists. The various discounts are just one measure that has been introduced. Prices of accommodation during the week days and the weekend will be equalized.

Temperatures will run as high as 43C in the second half of July. The hot spell will begin Thursday. Then temperatures in most parts of Bulgaria will reach 38C. It will be the hottest in Plovdiv, Sandanski, Petrich, Ruse and Razgrad. Temperatures there may well exceed 40C, meteorologists forecast. It will be very warm along the Black Sea coast as well.
