The Bulgarian border police caught Thursday a total of five Iraqis and two Palestinians trying to enter the country illegally. The five Iraqi citizens - four women and one man - were detained by the border police closed to the Kapitan Andreevo Checkpoint at the Bulgaria-Turkey border after they had crossed the Maritsa River. The police was alerted about the fugitives by an employee of a cafe located along the E-80 road. Meanwhile, two Palestinian citizens were detained at the Kulata Checkpoint at the Bulgarian-Greek border as they were trying to cross into Bulgaria in the trunk of a car driven by a 37-year-old Bulgarian from the city of Burgas. The illegal immigrants have been sent to refugee centers. |

| The 112 emergency hotline will be launched in Bulgaria at long last. As of July 3, the line will receive emergency calls from the citizens in 10 districts. At the same time two call centers will start functioning in the capital and in Russe, which will cover Greater Sofia, Pernik, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Silistra and Razgrad. Till the end of the year the free line should be available for the rest of the towns in Bulgaria, Minister of State Policy for Disasters and Accidents informed yesterday. Meanwhile in the towns of Shumen and Sliven a temporary information center already operates. It receives calls about emergency situations and dispatches them to Civil Protection agency. | The organized criminal group that was detained at Kulata border checkpoint was involved with traffic of fake European currency, Sofia’s deputy public prosecutor, Roman Vasilev said at press conference. When the group was detained it was trying to transfer fake banknotes at the amount of EUR 30 000. They were intended to Italy. The leader of the group, who was under judicial ban to leave the sate, tried to leave the country and was declared for national search. Another four people were detained during the operation. Part of the group was acting in Romania and all of the members were Bulgarian citizens. |

| A special police operation was carried out at the territory of Kulata border checkpoint, Sofia and the town of Pernik, press centre of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior informed. The special operation was carried out on May 22 and 23. Chief Directorate Combating Organized Crime (CDCOC) started investigation of persons that were concerned with copping data from credit cards. After that they drained out banking accounts from Bulgaria and other EU states. Police officers detained three persions from the town of Pernik involved with copying and cloning of paying cards. |

| A total of two Bulgarian customs officers are to be sued over helping the illegal import of a luxurious car through Kulata border check point. | A two-kilometer line of vehicles has formed on the Bulgarian side of Kulata checkpoint on Bulgarian-Greek border. Cars and buses are waiting to cross the border. The traffic to Greece is heavy on E-79 main road. Many Bulgarians have chosen Greece for destination of their holiday between May 1st and 6th, which are days off in Bulgaria.
