Greek farmers stopped the admission of cars at the Kulata -Promachonas border checkpoint, the Border Police announced. All waiting cars and buses on both sides of the border were allowed to pass for about an hour. No freight vehicles are allowed to cross the border for a third day in a row. Ilinden -Exsohi checkpoint has been opened for all types of vehicles at 3.00pm, the Border Police press center announced. The protesting Greek farmers have lifted the blockage for trucks as well. It is expected the checkpoint to be opened until Wednesday morning. Kulata -Promachonas checkpoint is still closed for all types of vehilces. Over 330 cars are waiting along the Bulgarian side of the border. Kapitan Andreevo and Zlatograd checkoints are operating normally.

Greek farmers have blocked Ilinden - Exohi checkpoint at 10.00am, spokesperson of the Border Police announced. Cars and buses are allowed crossing the border. According to the initial information of Greek border authorities the trucks will be allowed to use the border between 3.00pm and 5.00pm except for those, carrying wood materials and agriculture production to cross the border.The rest of the checkpoints are working normally.

A 23-year-old Bulgarian man died in a car accident in northern Greece some 7-8 km away from the Ilinden -Eksohi border crossing point which is blockaded by protesting Greek farmers. Greek farmers plan to block all three checkpoints on Bulgarian-Greek border: Kulata – Promahon, Ilinden – Exohi and Svilengrad - Ormenion at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the press center of the Interior Ministry announced. A new border checkpoints will be built between Bulgaria and Greece. The funds for it and the construction of surrounding infrastructure have been guaranteed. This was reiterated at a meeting between Bulgaria’s Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Dimcho Mihalevski and Greece’s Minister for Macedonia and Thrace Margaritis Tzimas.
