Garmen mayor Bashev returns as hero after he was investigated for radical Islam

Garmen mayor Bashev received a hero’s welcome upon his return. Bashev is a total oligarch, the opposition party LOJ declared. Radical Islam is enforced in regions abandoned by the Bulgarian government, said VMRO leader Krasimir Karakachanov.

I was neither a DS agent nor an active Muslim "revolutionary", assured Bashev, adding that many people were forced to join the DS at the time. He thinks the Muslim population is always being manipulated, but this was the case before the fall of communism in 1989 as well. Last night the NSA (DANS) detained Bashev and Murat Boshnak, a teacher of Islam, on accusations of violating ethnic equality and tolerance and encroaching on freedom of religion.

Upon his return to Ribnovo Bashev expressed support for the actions of the NSA and the prosecution but that the laws must be enforced on criminals who are a threat to national security and not him. Such a person is LOJ leader and avid crime fighter Yane Yanev. "If you respect me do not do bad things please!" the mayor pleaded.

This morning the people of Garmen reported that Bashev underwent a makeover. Before he used to kiss the Koran, we saw it, they say. In Garmen you can’t earn a dime without Bashev’s approval, he is a total oligarch, said LOJ member Emil Vassilev on BTV.
