A seven-year-old girl drowned in a hotel pool before the eyes of her teachers and a lifeguard. The absurd accident with Iveta Nikolova happened in "Bozhura Land" complex in the town of Bansko.

The girl and 127 more children from the private "St. George" school in Sofia were at a `green school` in Bansko. The drama happened at 17:00 p.m. on Tuesday when the children were playing in the pool.

"The pool is very shallow and nobody realized that Iveta had been drowning," explained officials from the school. The safeguard of the daughter of businessman Hristo Kovachki also jumped in the water to save the girl.

"When Iveta was pulled out of the pool she still had a pulse," said Daniela Severinova director of "St. George" school. The ambulance arrived in three minutes but according to the doctors the girl was already dead.

"St. George" is one of the elite private schools in Sofia, where the tuition fee reaches 6,000 euro.

Iveta is the daughter of a construction businessman. She has a twin sister who witnessed the accident.
