Local spa hotels are ratcheting up their efforts to lure more foreigners as some 80% of the current guests are Bulgarians, said Stanimir Stankov, chairman of the National Spa and Wellness Tourism Association. Regulated plots in the balneological resort Vurshets have seen an almost twofold annual price increase. They were offered at 21 euro a sq m at the beginning of 2007 and currently fetch as much as 40 a sq m.
Currently regulated plots in the village sell at 19 to 63 euro a sq m. Average prices over the past six months have increased by 23 per cent.
