"Shortage of water will turn out to be the biggest headache in building the base in Novo Selo," locals familiar with the area maintain. For years the military range itself and the nearby villages of Mokren and Sedlarevo, have been tormented by droughts. However, The Standart learnt that a vast underground lake was recently discovered near the Novo Selo military range. The lake is about 15 km long and 5 km wide. Experts say it has enough water to supply a city with a population of 400,000. Thus now the local people`s hopes for having a proper water supply system and a water treatment plant at long last, are pinned on this lake.
