As night falls over the remote village of Bulgari , a handful of men and women prepare for " Nestinarstvo ", an ancient fire dance that practitioners fear is being trivialised by tourism. An ancient Bulgarian ritual called nestinarstvo, or fire-dancing, takes place on Tuesday in the Bulgarian village of Balgari in the Strandzha mountains. It involves barefoot dancing on smoldering embers. The icons of St. Konstantin and Elena are taken out of a chapel with the accompaniment of a drum, or tapan, and a bagpipe.
