No concessionaires have been found for 43 beaches in Bulgaria due to the high concession prices, expert.bg reported. New owners have been found for a period of five years for the beaches in the resorts of Elenite, Smokinite South and North, Zlatna Ribka, Chernomorets camp, Kozlouka and Ravda. Due to the lack of concessionaires, the beaches will not be guarded though the summer season has started. The lack of concessionaires will leave many qualified lifeguards jobless. These people are expected to seek employment abroad.

A number of coastal resorts in Bulgaria will start functioning only in mid-June, Sega daily reported. The financial crisis and the lack of sufficient number of tourists is leading to this delay in the start of the summer season, head of the Sunny Beach union of owners Elena Ivanova said. Bookings in northern Black Sea resorts register 15 to 20 percent lower levels than the bookings for the same period of 2008. The decrease could be overcome through the bookings of Romanian tourists.

Municipal advisors in the coastal town of Nessebar decided to sign an agreement with Sunny Beach Ltd concerning the management of Sunny Beach resort infrastructure.
