Thracian Institute ‘Professor Aleksander Fol` (National Academy of Science), the municipality of Malko Turnovo (South - Eastern Bulgaria) and municipality of Kurklareli in Turkey are organizing Bulgarian - Turkish Summer University "Strandja Mountain and its contribution to the East - West civilization movement". The University will be opened on May 5 and will continue until May 10. The event will take place on the territory of both municipalities - the Turkish - Kurklareli and Bulgaria`s Malko Turnovo. |

Bulgarian customs officers at the Malko Tarnovo border checkpoint with Turkey seized early Wednesday 38 kilograms of heroin. During a check officials found 40 packages of the drug, hidden in a secret compartment in a bus heading to Romania, driven by a Turkish national. According to preliminary official estimates, the seized heroin costs more than EUR 4 M. The driver of the bus was arrested and investigation on the case started. |

| A viaduct over Burgas lake will help the traffic, design teams proposed nine scenarios for the city ring road. The location of Burgas is very special due to the lake and the sea and it does not allow for the construction of a classic ring road. In the same time the streets have no more capacity while the cars grow with 1,200 to 2,000 per month according to data of the traffic police. | The district governors of the Bulgarian Black Sea City of Burgas and of the Turkish town Kirklareli discussed the state of the border checkpoints at Malko Turnovo and Derekyoi, options to improve the road network Burgas – Malko Tarnovo and Derekyoi – Kirklareli, as well as a project for a railway. Talks highlighted the traffic of long trucks through the checkpoint at Malko Tarnovo and Derekyoi. This route is a shortcut for long trucks traveling from Eastern Europe (Moldova, Romania, Varna and Burgas) to Turkey. |
