Varbitsa Pass is closed for the entire winter season, the press center of Road Infrastructure Agency reports.As of Wednesday all vehicles are banned from traveling through the pass, on road I-7 Shumen-Yambol from 176th km to 200th km. The motorists can use Rish Pass, road II-73 Shumem-Karnobat or Kotel Pass, road II-48 Omurtag-Kotel.

The first long-anticipated tenders for construction of Bulgaria`s Trakiya motorway will be held in the autumn, said construction minister Rosen Plevneliev. Earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale was registered at 7.19 p.m. on Monday, the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed. The jolt had epicenter located around 300 kilometers East of the capital city Sofia, in the town of Karnobat. There is no information about injured people and material damage.

The Municipal council of Karnobat has approved the proposal of the mayor Georgi Dimitrov and decided to open a procedure for granting a concession for design, construction, management, maintenance and operation of wind energy park. The park will be built on unregulated land properties. Leading energy companies from Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece and Austria have declared readiness to participate in the upcoming tender. The tender is expected to start within three months and the starting price is BGN 220 million.

There are several roads towards the Black Sea, at which the traffic had been intensive traffic but some of them can be avoided, police inspector Georgi Topalov told FOCUS News Agency: "The traffic at Karnobat- Burgas road has been the most intensive and I advise the drivers to use Yambol- Sredets road in Bulgarian coastal town of Burgas direction and that road back and towards the coastal town of Nesebar the drivers can use the road through Bulgarian village Mirolyubovo."

The traffic from and to the Bulgarian coastal town of Burgas is ‘awful’ travelers reported for FOCUS News Agency. The situation is very difficult on the Sliven – Karnobat section. Drivers said at places they had to ’crawl’ at 20 km/h. The intense traffic is mainly a result of the large number of tourists going to and returning from the seaside to Sofia. Drivers are advised to drive carefully and have in mind that there is a large number of people who do irregular overtaking thus endangering the traffic further.
