| Bulgaria is losing 2 billion leva (1 billion euros) a year from traffic jams, the Energy Efficiency Agency reported. All citizens of Sofia and other big cities lose at least an hour a day in hellish traffic. If we spent this time at work instead, the GDP would increase by BGN 1.2 billion. To this figure we add the fuel waste, which totals BGN 600 million. We waste 200 tons of gas a day, which harms the environment. Drivers in Sofia do not obey the Law on Traffic and drive their cars in the bus lanes. Thus public transport vehicles waste fuel worth tens of millions.
