This ski-season will be the first for a new Police unit in the Bulgarian ski resorts - the Ski-Police. The new unit will watch for the order on the ski slopes. Pamporovo hotel and restaurant owners have refrained from paying taxes worth 380 000 leva to Chepelare municipality , radio Focus- Smolyan reported. The eco path leading Kiselchovski waterfalls (village of Kiselichevo , Smolyan municipality ) in the upper part of the Rhodope Arda River has been renovated, radio Focus- Smolyan reported. Volunteers helped for the repair of bridges that were destroyed in 2005 floods. The entire path has been cleaned from wood and stones. The eco path is short but steep since it passes through a mountainous area. Renovations are only temporary since the entire eco path will undergo full development.

The Rhodope Mountain town of Chepelare registered an increase in the number of tourists over the past month, radio Focus-Smolyan reported. Mostly Bulgarians visit the resort but tourists also come from countries like the Netherlands and the UK, Chepelare mayor Georgi Popov said. The Rhodope Mountain village of Zaburdo will officially open its small zoo on August 15. This will be the zoo located at highest altitude in Bulgaria , radio Focus- Smolyan reported. The exact altitude is 1500 m. Some of the animals that visitors will get the chance to observe include deer, boar and rabbit. Official opening will take place on August 14 and 15 when Zaburdo celebrates its holiday.
